The Preposition (Time, Place, Movement, Manner, Phrases)

 The Preposition

The technical definition of a preposition is “a word or group of words that is used with a noun, pronoun, or noun phrase to show direction, location, or time, or to introduce an object.

Prepositions are words that tell how one thing is relating to or interacts with another. For example, “The man sat on the chair.” The preposition in this sentence is on. Prepositions tell us where something is about something else. The man isn’t under the chair, for example. He’s on it.
